Graduate Assistant for Violence Prevention

Kristen is pursuing an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at UNC Charlotte and serves as the Interpersonal Violence Prevention Graduate Assistant with the Center for Wellness Promotion, supporting efforts to foster healthy, equitable relationships and prevent interpersonal violence. She holds an M.A. in Applied Anthropology and a Graduate Certificate in Women’s & Gender Studies from the University of South Florida, with a background in gender equity, policy, Peace Corps service, international education, and research on women’s leadership and political representation in Ghana. Kristen’s interests center on gender-balanced leadership, sexual and relational health, and how culture and power shape relationships and wellbeing. As a trained yoga teacher, embodied and holistic approaches inform her work. As a future counselor, she hopes to support individuals and people across diverse relationship structures through culturally responsive, relational, and inclusive practice. At CWP, she brings these perspectives to helping students build healthier, safer, and more equitable relationships.
