
What is a Peer Health Educator?
Peer Health Educators play a vital role in promoting wellness among UNC Charlotte students and their communities. Peer Health Educators serve to educate the student body on wellness resources, how to live healthy lifestyles and ways to achieve their goals through educational presentations and campus events.
Application Process and Training
Students interested in becoming a peer health educator must successfully apply, interview, and participate in training to hold the role. More information regarding the interview and training process will be shared following application review.
Applications for Fall 2025 are now closed. Applications for 2026 will open February/March 2026.
Benefits of Becoming a Peer Health Educator
- Gain leadership experience

- Become a Nationally Certified Peer Educator through NASPA BACCHUS Initiatives
- Develop skills in program planning, facilitating, and public speaking
- Make a difference in the health and wellbeing of the UNC Charlotte campus through educational and advocacy efforts
- Professional references/letters of recommendation are available to those who successfully complete the program
Health Education Topics:
The Peer Educators present a wide range of health programs, plan campus-wide wellness events, and develop marketing campaigns to educate the UNC Charlotte campus community. Topics include:
- Alcohol and Other Drugs
- Interpersonal Violence Prevention
- Mental Health & Prevention
- Nutrition
- Sexual Health
- Sleep
- Stress Management
- Recovery Program
