Consent is a normal and necessary part of sex. In this workshop, we'll discuss when and how to ask for consent, techniques to check-in during a sexual interaction, and communication tips to increase safety and pleasure. Students will learn the definition of consent, verbal cues and body language, and how to apply practical communication skills in their sexual relationships.

10/11 | 5:30 PM | Student Union 262

In this workshop, we will discuss the relationship spectrum and strategies for identifying healthy vs. toxic (unhealthy) relationship characteristics. Students will learn about power and control, setting boundaries, healthy communication, and practicing consent. These skills apply to all relationships including platonic, romantic, sexual, and other personal relationships.

10/16 | 5:00 PM | Student Union 262

After an experience with dating violence, many survivors will seek out a friend or someone close to them for support. This workshop will prepare students to respond to a disclosure by providing effective support and information about resources. We’ll discuss characteristics of dating violence, warning signs, useful tips and phrases to start a conversation, self-care and boundary setting, as well as resources for students impacted by interpersonal violence.

10/25 | 7:00 PM | Cone After Hours

October is Relationship Violence Awareness Month, and the Center for Wellness Promotion will be hosting a trivia night about all aspects of a relationship! Join us for food, prizes, and test your knowledge on relationships!

10/30 | 5:00 PM | Student Union 262

October is Relationship Violence Awareness Month and the CWP and CRP will be ending the month with a presentation about pathways to healing after violence. Trauma impacts every individual differently, join us for a conversation about pathways to recovery, coping, and healing.

During the month of October, purple ribbons can be found around campus for students to take and display on their book bags in an effort to raise awareness for relationship violence. Students can take further action to participate in Niners Stand by doing the following when they find a purple ribbon:

  • Scan the QR code near/on the purple ribbon
  • Follow @clt_cwp on Instagram
  • Share a picture of your ribbon to their story with the #CLTRVAM and tag @clt_cwp to be entered into a drawing for a sweatshirt from the Student Union bookstore!

Check bulletin boards in campus buildings for purple ribbons or collect one during our Niners Stand ribbon pass out on October 2nd in the CHHS/COED Plaza at 10:00 am or at any CWP hosted events during the month of October!

Winners of the Purple Ribbon Initiative will be announced at Boo'd Up: Relationship Trivia on October 25th.
