The Discover Your Wellness (DYW) Passport Program is a partnership between the Center for Wellness Promotion and campus partners designed to expose students to new health and wellness information and practices and to connect them to campus resources. By participating in this initiative, students can receive academic credit from participating faculty/staff instructors for attending DYW Passport Program workshops, trainings, and events.
All DYW Passport events are coordinated and facilitated by UNC Charlotte staff members within the Health & Well-being Unit (Center for Wellness Promotion, Counseling and Psychological Services, Student Health Center, and University Recreation), and occasionally some other campus departments.
Staff members from these departments hold a variety of expertise and will host open events related to topics including:
- Alcohol, Tobacco, and other Drug use
- Addiction and Recovery Support
- Healthy Sexuality
- Healthy Relationships
- Body Positivity
- Diet and Nutrition
- Physical Fitness
- Stress/Anxiety Management
- Suicide Prevention

Be sure to check the calendar regularly to see if events have been recently added, canceled, or modified. Arrive early. Space fills up quickly and students will be admitted on a first come, first serve basis.

Please follow the directions of your instructor. They may require more than just proof of attendance. The Center for Wellness Promotion only provides a calendar of approved events and is not involved in the grading process.
It is your responsibility to check the calendar regularly to see programs recently added, canceled, and to note any changes in programs. It is strongly advised that you arrive early for programs, as space fills up quickly and students will be admitted on a first come, first serve basis. Though we consider ourselves leaders, we are not the exclusive owners of wellness events on campus and acknowledge that external departments may coordinate wellness-related programs. If you believe your program aligns with the values of the Discover Your Wellness initiative and would like for your program to be advertised on the Discover Your Wellness Calendar, please complete the submission form below.
There are two categories of passport programs:
- Regular Programs and events that are smaller in nature. Examples include classroom lectures/discussions, exhibits, tabling events and small film screenings.
- Large Scale Larger-scale programs features a guest speaker, panel discussions, multi-departmental collaborative events, health fairs, symposiums, etc. These events usually draw large crowds of over 50 people.

In order to be considered for DYW Passport Program approval, programs must address at least one of the dimensions of wellness (see below for descriptions of each) and:
- Be educational in nature
- FREE for students
- Events submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the program event/date
All information will be reviewed and approved/returned at the discretion of the Center for Wellness Promotion. You may be asked to provide supplemental materials as a part of the process.Dimensions of Wellness
Emotional Awareness and acceptance of feelings and emotion. Examples include relationships with friends and family, optimism, trust, self-esteem, self-acceptance, self-control and coping with stress.
Environmental Recognition of interdependence with nature. Examples include recycling, sun (UV) exposure, pollution, air quality, lead paint exposure and second-hand tobacco smoking.
Financial Ability to manage ones financial resources. Examples include budget management, purposeful spending, and saving.
Intellectual Openness to new concepts and ideas. Examples include critical thinking, being curious, questioning concepts, and solving problems.
Physical Maintenance of a healthy body. Examples include maintaining proper nutrition, engaging in adequate physical exercise, and avoidance of harmful habits such as alcohol abuse, drug use, tobacco use, and practicing unsafe sex.
Social Ability to perform social roles effectively, comfortably, and without harming others. Examples include establishing and maintaining personal friendships, learning good communication skills, having loving or intimate relationships, establishing a support network, and participating in the enrichment of ones community, country, and world.
Spiritual Meaning and purpose of human existence. Examples include becoming involved in a religious affiliation, experiencing peace with nature, meditating, and developing skills in yoga or the martial arts.
Occupational Ability to enjoy a chosen career and/or contribute to society through volunteer activities. Examples include volunteering, workplace safety, and choosing a satisfying career/profession.
